When I watched Steve Jobs’ 2005 Stanford Commencement Address on YouTube back in 2011, I felt that I was not alone in my way of thinking. I was also hopeful that my dots will eventually connect.

If you haven’t seen the video, you can watch it here. I hope it inspires you as much as it inspired me. Sometimes all we need is motivation and inspiration to put us back on our path.

For an entire year, a friend of mine from Cape Town posted self-affirmation posts on Instagram at 7 am every morning. By helping herself, she was helping me prepare for my move to Germany. Her posts also helped me during my time abroad – miles away from my comfort zone.

I started to intentionally focus on every challenge with the question ‘what have I learned and gained during this experience?’, instead of the mindset ‘everything happens for a reason’. This perspective helped me move forward. And eventually, I created my business model.

Looking back on my journey thus far, the dots started to align when I took control and chose to see life this way. It’s so important to stay true to yourself. It’s much easier to do things if your skills, strengths, knowledge, interests and values are aligned.

“Follow your heart, follow your intuition.” Rise up and shine!
