Whether you’re a solopreneur with an online shop or a small company with 20 employees, you want to earn the trust of your clients. One way of doing this is by having policies and proper Terms and Conditions in place on your website. This way communication and expectations are clear and your clients’ and other stakeholders’ interests AND your own are protected.
I offer online workshops to help you draft agreements and policies that address the unique needs of your business. These legal documents include POPIA- (and/or GDPR-) compliant Privacy Policies, a Freedom of Expression Policy and Terms and Conditions for your website (when you own an online shop). I also help you understand these topics, so you can incorporate an ethical culture in your business.
‘‘Avoid reputational damage, losing the trust of your customers and even major cost implications by ensuring your legal agreements and policies are in place.”
South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) has commenced on 1 July 2020. All businesses must comply with the Act by 1 July 2021. You have one year to get ready! Start the process sooner rather than later. Individuals’ right to privacy is a constitutional right and needs to be respected regardless of the POPI Act. The purpose of the Act is to ensure that you collect, process, store and share individuals and businesses’ personal information in a responsible way. And when you don’t, you will be held accountable.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) sets the rules for the collection and processing of personal information of individuals within the European Union (EU). If you offer goods or services to EU-based individuals or you monitor the behaviour of EU-based individuals and their behaviour takes place within the union, the GDPR applies to your business.
If users can create content or express themselves (publicly or privately) on your website, a Freedom of Expression policy informs them what is acceptable content and what content may be removed.
If you have an online shop, Terms and Conditions details how you deliver your goods or services. When a complaint arises, it serves as a legally binding document. You can also clarify anything that is unclear.
Once you’ve registered and we’ve received confirmation of your payment being processed, we’ll send you an email to confirm that we’ve accepted your order.
You will get a link to the workshop with further instructions. You can work through the course material at your own pace. Book your 30-minute Zoom consultation with me when you’re ready to ask questions. After our consultation, we will review your policies and send you the final draft.
For more information please read our Terms and Conditions.
We can also implement these policies on your website, and offer internal training to employees and service providers on the implementation of the policies (not included in the price).
